It was a special day in the history of opera. Azerbaijan celebrated 110 years since the first play of “Leyli And Majnun” mugham opera by the genius Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir bay Hajibayov.
If you came to Baku at least once, you most probably met Fuad Ahundov and had heard his one-of-a-kind historical reviews of Baku and its most honorable public figures like Zeynalabdin Taghiyev etc.
His artistic and passionate storytelling skills have been raising more and more interest amongst locals and tourists too.
Fuad had shared most important facts about the very origins of “Leyli and Majnun”, its significance for the whole Eastern opera. Then came the Mugham performers together with our favourite Masum Ibrahimov. And so the night turned into one musical and historical tour of the special piece of Azerbaijani cultural heritage.
